They became one of the first same-sex couples to enter into a civil partnership in the UK. The actor married Gregory Doran on 30 December 2015, ten years after their civil partnership. This actor told everyone on 10 September 2021 that he was diagnosed with an incurable disease. Her husband took compassionate leave from the Royal Shakespeare Company to take care of Antony. The actor died of cancer on 3 December 2021 at the age of 72.
