The actor’s mother worked for a local newspaper for many years, and his father was a professor at the University of Connecticut, where he taught literature. The actor could not breathe on his own, the contraction of the respiratory muscles caused the built-in electrostimulator, and he could speak only with the help of the apparatus inserted into the trachea.
