Damir Mikec BioGraphy : Serbia has reason to celebrate, Serbian shooter Damir Mikec won a silver medal on the first day of the Olympic Games in Tokyo! Throughout history, Serbian archers have accustomed the nation to success, countless medals won at the World and European Championships, but also at the Olympic Games. After the first medals won in 1988 in Seoul, where Goran Maksimović (gold) and Jasna Šekarić (gold and silver) won the first medals for our country in this sport, appetites only grew, and as a rule we always counted on shooters for some medal at the Olympics. Mikec is our oldest competitor at the Games, and already on the first day, his experience brought our country a medal. He thus completed all the medals from the big competitions, because in his career he missed only the most valuable one, from the Olympic Games.

He was born in Split in 1984 and is currently a member of the “Policajac” club located in Belgrade. Mikec practiced karate in his early childhood, at the age of eight he decided to try his hand at “mats”, after five years of karate, he managed to reach the brown belt. However, karate did not come to life, and Mikeca led the way further. After karate, Damir trained swimming and rowing, and in the end he “discovered the magic” of shooting, where he won silver medal at Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Journey
The Serbian shooter was lucky enough to grow up next to his older brother, Goran, who was a member of the national team in archery, and as Damir once said – he has long surpassed his results. His older brother, Goran Mikec, did not have any notable results during his career, however, he can now boast that he is the coach of the man who brought Serbia its first medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
He overtook his brother Goran a long time ago, but also, his brother as a coach can boast that “his student” won over 30 medals in his career. The most important medal, until this one in Tokyo, was the silver medal from the World Cup, while the number of others can no longer be counted in the right way.He won the European Championship twice, the World Cup several times, while he also won one gold medal at the Mediterranean Games.
