Deepika Kumari is arguably one of the greatest Indian female archers, currently ranked fifth but once ranked first in the world. She rose to fame after winning two gold medals at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She finished first in both the individual and team re curve events. Her interest in archery began when she was a child, when she practiced archery by shooting mangoes with stones instead of arrows. Her dream of becoming an archer took off in 2005, when Meera Munda, the wife of the then chief minister, founded an archery institute in Kharsawan, Jharkhand. She joined the Tata Archery Institute in Jamshedpur the next year. She received a $500 stipend, as well as proper equipment and a uniform. She returned home after a three-year absence after winning a gold medal at the Cadet World Championships in 2009. The following year, she won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games and qualified for the 2012 Olympics in London. She won the World Cup in Turkey just before the Olympics and became a gold contender for India at the Games, but returned empty-handed.
She continued to compete at the international level, winning five silver medals including the World Cup and the World Championships. She also qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics, and as last time, hopes were high for her, but she was once again struggling to perform on the main stage. However, she made it to the 16th round at the 2016 Olympics. In 2005, she started her career and started with Arjun Archery Academy. After that she joined Tata Archery Academy. 2006 was a very golden year in the life of her. Her first breakthrough came in 2006, with she winning her Pella Gold Medal at the 2006 Junior World Championship in Mexico. In 2010, she did wonders as she won the gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, becoming the first Indian woman to do so. Early Life
She was born to Shivnarayan Mahato, an auto-rickshaw driver from the Kshatriya Prajapati tribe, and Geeta Mahto, a nurse at Ranchi Medical College. Her parents live in Ratu Chatti village, about 15 km from Ranchi. She practiced archery as a boy, shooting mangoes with sticks. Her’s parents initially struggled to fulfill her dream financially, often sacrificing the family budget to buy new supplies for her training; As a result, she practiced archery with a handmade bamboo bow and arrows. Deepika’s cousin Vidya Kumari, who was then a student at the Tata Archery Academy, helped her honing her skills.
Education
She does her schooling from Ratu Ranchi. She enrolled in Arjun Archery Academy in 2005. And the main start of her career joined Tata Archery Academy located in Jamshedpur in 2006. She learned all the art of archery from Tata Archery Academy.

She married Antanu Das on 30 June 2020 at Morhabadi ground in Ranchi after playing the 2020 World Cup. Antanu Das is an Indian archer and hails from Kolkata, West Bengal.
