Hidilyn Diaz BioGraphy : Hidilyn Diaz’s full name is Hidilyn Francisco Diaz. She was born on February 20, 1991. She is a Filipino weightlifter as well as an airwoman. She recently won a gold medal in the women’s 55 kg category for weightlifting at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Hull. Hidilyn Diaz began her weightlifting career by participating in the 2008 Summer Olympics as the youngest competitor in the women’s 58 kg category. Hidilyn Diaz won a silver medal in the women’s 53 kg weight category at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Before this, the Philippines had not received an Olympic medal for 20 years.Her silver medal ended a 20-year long wait for the Philippines. And Hidilyn Diaz has won the gold medal in women’s weightlifting at the recently held Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. And she set an Olympic record for the 55kg category by lifting a total of 224kg. Hidilyn Diaz won a bronze medal at the 2007 SEA Games in Thailand. In the 2006 Asian Games, Hidilyn finished 10th in the 53 kg category. Hidilyn won one silver  and two gold at the Asian Youth/Junior Weightlifting Championships in Jeonju, South Korea.

Hidilyn Diaz attended the Universidad de Zamboanga and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science. But she stopped attending the university as an irregular third year student. After her success at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she decided to continue her tertiary education and pursue a sporting degree in Manila. Hidilyn Diaz received a scholarship in January 2017 to study business management at De La Salle-College, St. Beneild. Hidilyn Diaz took a leave of absence for schooling in 2018 as she focused on Olympic preparation after winning the Asian Games.After that Hidilyn Diaz re-enrolled herself in the online classes as the Summer Olympics was postponed to July 2021 due to Covid 19.
