In the 1940s, she had her first role in the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer musical. And with this performance, she had focused the attention of all the audience. She is known for her operatic soprano voice and “girl-next-door” image. She was one of the last living stars from the golden age of Hollywood cinema until her death. She made her debut as a performer in 1994 with the song Open Road. She then played the lead role in Arthur Lubin’s Delightly Dangerous in 1945. She later gained world Wide identification for her lead roles in the musical A Date with Judy in 1951, Royal Wedding in 1951, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in 1954, and Hit the Deck in 1955. She starred in two rare non-musical roles in 1958. The name of those films is Noir The Female Animal and the adventure film is Enchanted Island. She starred in high-profile productions of My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music in 1960. Apart from this she also acted in national touring theatrical productions. she acted in the Broadway production of Irene in the title role from 1973 to 1974.Apart from films, Jane had also acted in some television series. she made guest appearances on The Love Boat from 1981 to 1982, the sitcom Growing Pains from 1988 to 1992.

Jane gained local fame as a child singer.She toured the state as an Oregon Victory Girl selling victory bonds during World War II. She relocated to Los Angeles when she was a teenager. In Los Angeles, she signed a film contract with MGM. She used her acting, singing and dancing talents to land lead roles in a variety of musicals for the studio. She was the only child of her parents and  mother’s name is Eileen Baker Burce. And her father’s name is Emerson Burce. Emerson worked at the Wonder Bread Factory and later at the Fred Meyer Grocery Store. She started learning dance when she was two years old .When Jane was five years old, she appeared on the radio program Stars of Tomorrow. childhood was not like that of children. She actually did not want to live such a childhood, but her parents thought of her as a machine to earn money only.

She was married five times in her life. Her first marriage was to Geary Steffen in 1949 & divorced Geary Steffen in 1953. She was then married to Patrick Nerney in 1954. And in 1963 she got divorced from Patrick Nerney. Two years later, that is, in 1965, she  married James Fitzgerald for the third time. But their marriage ended in 1975 and they got divorced. After that married David Parlor in 1978. But like her previous marriage, this marriage also did not work out. They got married in 1981. Jane married Dickie Moore for the fifth time in 1988.
