Jessica von Bredow-Werndl wins Olympic dressage gold in Tokyo with her “Queen” Dalera. The expected close duel for the Olympic single gold medal in dressage didn’t work out, the 35-year-old German Jessica presented her mare TSF Dalera in the final freestyle and won her first individual gold at a major championship. For her teammate Isabell Werth and Bella Rose there was silver and the British Charlotte Dujardin fought her way to bronze with her little Gio. Bredow-Werndl had no luck with the drawing of the starting order and had to go into the arena behind the Danish Cathrine Dufour as second in the group of the best six. At this point Dufour was fully deserved to lead, to the sounds of Les Miserables she presented Bohemian very strongly and made claims for a podium place with 87.507%.

She was born on 16 February 1986. Like her two-year-older brother, she really wanted to ride a horse. At the age of four she had her first riding lesson and three years later she was allowed to call a Lewitzer pony her own. Jessica discovered dressage riding for herself with the German riding pony “Nino the Champ” and was able to qualify for the finals at the Bundeschampionat in Warendorf in 1998 and 1999. Even after switching to the big horse, Jessica was immediately successful. In 2001, due to two program errors, the European Championship qualification did not work out, a year later she became double European junior champion and in 2004 she won individual gold and team silver at the European Young Rider Championships. In 2006 Jessica entered the Grand Prix sport with Duchess. Jessica and her brother have set themselves the goal of promoting young horses themselves in their “Aubenhausen” training stable and training them up to the high dressage classes. On their way they had support from the successful Isabell Werth, the national trainer Jonny Hilberath and Andreas Hausberger, chief rider of the Spanish Riding School.
